MetalCast Episode 194

Kobe said “Go!”, Tim said “I can add 10.” The others were happy with having more free time. And so it happened. There’s of course plenty more that can be added, but since new material has been acquired and bought, it would be a shame to not spread the word about those bands. A word of thanks in any case to Vesa Ruokangas from Violent Journey Records from Finland for providing the songs of Ordog and Cyphosis (for this episode). You’ll see that Scandinavia is well represented this time, but that’s also because it’s one of the regions where Metal is grand and continues to spawn many bands in several genres. We had a Hungarian Special in 2007 (EP 29), but since then not that much Hungarian Metal has been played. The Folk Metal band Dalriada just released a new album, which we couldn’t ignore. Enjoy and as usual, your feedback is very much appreciated.

To listen to a EP of Metalcast is like to read a fine novel. You never knows where the protagnists lead you to until the end and you’d like to read it again to catch the thoughts it brings to you. Of course, the narrator of the novel is important just like the hosts of the EPs. I’d say when I listen to each new EP of Metalcast, I would not plug out my earphone until it ends. Each song of the cast is like a chapter of the novel. I am typing these words with this EP playing in my ipad, and I digged the web for some bands it picks, for example, Axenstar, it formed in 1998 with the initial name of Powerrage. Thanks guys, you really rock! BTW, I just finished a novel of the name A Song for Arbonne by Guy Gaviel Kay from Canada. And the other novels of the same author, for example, Tigana, The Lions of Al-Rassan are also worth a try.

Thanks so much for all your comments Cheng!! I only joined the Metalcast last year but I have been a long time listener, and all the Metalcast guys and gals are committed to bringing metal in its infinite variety to the ears of those willing to listen. We seek out unknown metal whilst also bringing updates of those bands people already know and love. You’re right about the novel thing – I have many episodes of Metalcast on mp3 CDs and I can listen to 7 or 8 in a row, and its like having a library of metal at your disposal. I’ll have to check out that author though…..:-)

    WOOT hungarian metal on Metalcast!
    Thank you! Dalriada ftw!

  4. Bendyferret says:

This is Si here but it seems to have signed me in as Bendyferret. Oh well. Just wanted to say thanks Tim for a great ep! I love the way the Abysmal Dawn track thunders in after the Lords of the Trident! Metal!

Loved the second half of the show best, with all the folk toons and even a doom representative. Overall a brilliant selection of genres. Nice one Tim!
