Episode 164 – The big 6
Back in February, a listener who goes by the name Harry Haza Williams requested a special with the big 4, aka Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax. Since these bands are currently on tour together (for the first time ever!), it would indeed be nice to have all four be represented in one episode. But there was an internal disagreement here, as Testament was another choice. But then you’re forgetting about other bands like Exodus, Heathen, Forbidden, Death Angel, etc… So we made a final cut and put the big four plus Testament and Exodus on the list. All in old and new versions. A sort of back-to-back list. No happy tunes here, only heavy riffings, fast drums, aggressive vocals and more along those lines. Enjoy this somewhat historical episode!

So what if Annihilator is from Canada? That doesn’t discredit them from being in the top thrash bands. I didn’t know that the Big 4 (in this case Big 6) was a term used exclusively for US bands. By the way, I personally enjoy bands like Tankard, Kreator, and even Annihilator more than Testament, so in my opinion Testament doesn’t deserve to be in the Big 6. But obviously this is a matter of personal tastes.

Where the hell is the Annihilator ?! ;(
This was about the Big 4 (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax), but since other USA Thrash bands also made quite an impact on the scene, we added Testament and Exodus. Annihilator is a CANADIAN band, nothing to do with the Big 4.
